FIFA Adds Mansfield as Team Base Camp Option for the FIFA World Cup 2026™

Mansfield is now a Team Base Camp option for the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

A Team Base Camp serves as a team’s “home away from home” throughout the international tournament’s group stage. A national team will train and live at the base camp as they prepare for their three group stage matches. Teams will decide on their Team Base Camp location in December 2025, following the Final Draw.

The third wave of Team Base Camps under consideration brings the total number of locations to 62 across North America and Mansfield Stadium was one of the 14 added in this round. Mansfield is currently one of six locations within North Texas being considered as a Team Base Camp.

This will be the first FIFA World Cup™ with an expanded format of 48 teams playing across North America. A total of five matches will be played at AT&T Stadium (known as Dallas Stadium during the tournament) in Arlington during the Group Stage with an additional four scheduled in the knockout rounds.

“It is a great honor to see Mansfield in the running as a Team Base Camp location,” said Tim Roberts, Mansfield’s Tourism Manager. “We can’t wait to welcome the world to North Texas next summer and we invite every competing team to consider Mansfield as their hometown while they compete for soccer’s greatest prize.”

Mansfield Stadium is scheduled to open in 2026 before the World Cup. This multisport facility has room for approximately 7,000 fans. In addition to the potential to be a part of the international tournament, the stadium will be home to the North Texas Soccer Club for the 2026 season. It will be part of Mansfield’s upcoming Staybolt Street Entertainment District that will also include hotels and a conference center, a renovated Mansfield Sports Park, and High 5 Entertainment venue.
